Qubo exclusive & seamless

Qubo® Terrazzo combines centuries-old flooring craftsmanship with modern techniques. The polished, seamless terrazzo floor brings elegance, durability and design freedom to interiors where a high-quality, prestigious impression should count.

Areas of application for Qubo® Terrazzo The floor that represents

As Qubo® Terrazzo is very hard-wearing and durable due to its choice of materials and the possibility of reconditioning the surface by grinding and polishing, it is often used for prestigious premises. These include public and commercial properties such as large entrance halls, office buildings, hotels, restaurants, museums, exhibition rooms, cinemas, theaters, shopping centers, etc.
However, the system has also recently been rediscovered for high-end residential areas.

A classic celebrates its comeback Production of Qubo® Terrazzo

Our Qubo® Terrazzo is a seamless floor covering that is similar to a stone carpet when laid. To create the flooring system, marble gravel is laid as a stone carpet and filled with a mineral filler in the next step. Additives such as mother-of-pearl or similar can be added to the base material, which is available in various sizes. Once the surface has hardened, it is sanded wet and dry by the sanding experts in several stages using diamond sanding equipment. A terrazzo floor can be produced with a polished or non-slip finish. The anti-slip properties are achieved by grinding, acidifying, sandblasting or bush hammering. The final step is to apply a sealant to make the finished surface resistant to external influences. Qubo® Terrazzo impresses with its incredible brilliance and high durability.

What is Qubo® Terrazzo? Material and structure of a visible terrazzo

Qubo® Terrazzo is a seamless flooring system that combines marble gravel or other fine stone grains with a mineral filler. After hardening, a multi-stage sanding treatment – wet and dry – is carried out until the desired surface is achieved. Finally, the floor can be polished to a glossy finish or produced in an anti-slip version. Sealants are also used to protect the surface against moisture, dirt and wear.

Binders and fillers are selected to set faster than conventional in-situ terrazzo. This considerably shortens construction time and grinding processes without compromising abrasion resistance or load-bearing capacity.

The advantages of Qubo® Terrazzo at a glance

  • Time saving thanks to modern binding agents: faster setting and easy to apply compared to classic Terrazzi.

  • High durability and longevity: abrasion-resistant, robust against daily use and high-traffic areas.

  • Repair and reconditioning possible: Grinding and polishing enable the surface to be restored over a long period of time.

  • Design freedom and aesthetics: different marble gravels, inclusions such as mother-of-pearl, color and grain size selection allow individually tailored designs.

  • Slip resistance and surface protection: Depending on requirements, the surface can be treated so that it is safe to walk on. Different techniques such as sanding, acid washing, sandblasting or bush hammering enable the appropriate slip resistance class.

  • Resistant to external influences: Robust against wear and tear, also suitable for heavily used public as well as commercial spaces.

Areas of application - where Qubo® Terrazzo comes into its own

  • Prestigious interiors → Spacious reception halls, entrance areas of hotels, bank and office buildings, showrooms – the floor conveys prestige and durability.
  • Public and commercial buildings → Museums, theaters, restaurant areas, exhibition spaces – often a lot of public traffic, high traffic and cleaning requirements. Terrazzo proves its worth here thanks to its abrasion resistance and ease of maintenance.
  • Living areas with sophistication → Luxury apartments, loft apartments, living areas with an open-plan design – the timeless character of terrazzo suits both classic and modern furnishing styles.
  • Connection with underfloor heating → Qubo® Terrazzo can be easily combined with underfloor heating, which increases heat conduction and comfort.

Production and surface - how Qubo® Terrazzo is processed

1. preparation of the substrate
A stable, clean substrate is essential. Work is often carried out on screed or concrete, which may need to be leveled or primed.

2. application of the gravel and filler mixture
Marble gravel (in various grain sizes) is applied as a stone carpet and then filled with a mineral filler. Special features such as mother-of-pearl or color reductions can be incorporated.

3. sanding and finishing
Several sanding steps (wet and dry) smooth the surface. A gloss polish is applied as required. Special processes are used for slip resistance (e.g. acidifying, sandblasting or bush hammering).

4. sealing / protection
Finally, a sealant is applied to increase resistance and protect against moisture, typical soiling and wear.
