The pore filler is used to create a waterproof floorStone carpet pore seal for a closed system
Basically, a stone carpet pore seal performs an important task: it closes the pores that remain between the individual pebbles after a gravel floor has been laid. This turns the open gravel floor into a closed, watertight system. Consequently, gravel coatings with a Qubo® stone carpet pore seal are used wherever liquids are handled a lot, for example in bathrooms and kitchens. These liquids no longer penetrate the floor, but remain on the surface where they can be easily absorbed.
Die unterschiedlichen Systeme aus dem Portfolio der Marke Qubo® haben entsprechend ihrer jeweiligen Eigenschaften ganz unterschiedliche Einsatzgebiete, die in den folgenden Absätzen genauer erläutert werden.

Seamless bathroom: the aesthetics and functionality of modern bathroom design How important is the design of the bathroom?
This acrylic-based stone carpet pore seal is suitable for use in kitchens, bathrooms and stairwells. Qubo® PV ensures that the fine indentations between the individual pebbles are sealed watertight. This leaves a slightly textured surface, as the material is absorbed into the pores of the gravel floor as it hardens. Do not be fooled by the bluish coloration of freshly laid Qubo® PV: The material dries out completely transparent and colorless.
The use of the stone carpet pore seal creates a surface that is particularly easy to clean by damp mopping
Qubo® PV - Stone carpet pore closure
As a special visual highlight, glitter pigments can be stirred into the Qubo® PV to create an exciting effect in the light.
If Qubo® PV comes into contact with car tires in garages , for example, the pore filler is protected with an additional layer of epoxy resin . As a result, the floor is also optimally protected against chemical stresses such as plasticizers in car tires.
Qubo® PA-PV
Qubo® PA-PV is a two-component polyaspartic porous sealant for gravel floors. Just like Qubo® PV, it creates a sealed surface after laying and curing, on which liquids remain and stains can be easily wiped off. Due to the two-component structure, curing takes place on a chemical basis, while the water-based acrylic pore filler Qubo® PV dries out by releasing the moisture it contains.
The polyaspartic pore filler can be used in the same places as Qubo® PV. However, Qubo® PA-PV has the advantage that no additional sealing layer needs to be rolled on in garages, as the material itself is already resistant to plasticizers.
Qubo® EP-PV
The epoxy resin pore filler Qubo® EP-PV is suitable as a purely industrial product in production areas. The material is used on mortar floors to create an extremely robust sealing layer. Appearance plays a subordinate role here – function and durability are clearly the focus of Qubo® EP-PV.
Can a stone carpet pore seal be used outdoors?
While the decision for or against a pore filler in the indoor area depends on the specific area of application, stone carpet pore sealers are generally not used in the outdoor area .

The Qubo® pore closure is applied with a trowel and worked into the surface structure.
Why must a stone carpet pore seal not be applied to exterior surfaces?
In outdoor areas, an open stone floor is necessary for several reasons. The most important point is weather resistance. In an open gravel floor, water drains away within the gravel layer. Even in the event of black ice, the freezing water can expand within the stone structure and therefore does not damage the floor.
If exterior surfaces are fitted with a stone carpet pore seal, water is no longer able to drain through the stone structure. As a result, puddles form on the surface when it rains and patches of ice in winter. Even worse, however, is the following problem: if water gets under the pore seal, it can freeze in winter and break up the floor system. The situation is similar with outdoor tiles, where penetrating water freezes in sub-zero temperatures and cracks the tiles.
This makes the open stone carpet system the ideal choice for outdoor areas, as it is completely frost-proof.
That's why it's important to call in a specialist
Just like the installation itself, the application of a stone carpet pore filler is not trivial and should be carried out by a trained specialist company. In addition to the correct laying technique, laying professionals also have the necessary knowledge of which pore filler is used under which circumstances and in which location. For this reason, you should rely on the services of a specialist company when laying stone carpet, from substrate preparation to the sealing layer .

The excess material is then removed with a rubber wiper . When freshly applied, the pore filler is milky, but it dries out transparently.
