Stone carpet exhibition

In order to feel comfortable within your own four walls in the long term, it is important to find the right products. Making the right choice in relation to the various areas of application is not always easy. Good advice in a Steinteppich showroom can make the decision much easier.

The fact is that more and more people are opting for seamless wall and floor coverings. We will show you the advantages you can benefit from when you visit a stone carpet showroom!

Advantages of a stone carpet exhibition Selecting and combining materials

One of the reasons why you visit a stone carpet exhibition is to select and combine the desired materials. The various stone carpet systems offer different visual and tactile properties, which are best illustrated using real examples.

Combining marble and Colorquarz is also much easier with real color samples than with pictures. Hold color samples directly next to each other and plan appealing combinations of floor surfaces and skirting boards.

That is why visiting a real stone carpet exhibition is always preferable to using pictures on online recommendation portals.

Stone carpet exhibitions by craft companies Learn about new trends and areas of application for the materials

Depending on the type of stone carpet exhibition you visit, you will also benefit from a range of professional advice. Crafts businesses often exhibit the materials they work with in order to inform customers about possible applications, current trends and developments. This enables interested parties to make informed decisions based on specialist knowledge: For example, many building owners are unaware that motifs and logos can be seamlessly integrated into a stone carpet. The fact that garage floors are generally created using quartz gravel instead of marble gravel is also not known to every interested party. You can obtain such important additional information at a stone carpet exhibition.

Presentation rooms and exhibitions with quartz gravel flooring Suitable ambience for exhibitions

In addition to a stone carpet exhibition run by the craftsman himself, there are many exhibitions that present their products on a stone carpet area.

The right ambience plays an important role in the stylish display of works of art and goods for sale, as well as for presentations. That is why a Qubo® quartz gravel floor is the ideal choice for these areas: the seamless system with enormous design freedom does not distract from the exhibition, but blends into the overall picture. The combination of stone carpet logos and quartz gravel in the desired colors creates a positive first impression and remains in the memory of visitors even after they leave the presentation rooms. The robust surface remains permanently attractive even with high customer traffic and the frequent moving of chairs or shelves.

In addition, the textured surface absorbs impact sound and acoustic reflections of noises in the room.

The combination of gravel floor and presentation room has several advantages for operators and customers alike:

  • For the operators of an exhibition, a gravel coating is an advantage as it is extremely robust, easy to clean and attractive. A professionally laid stone carpet perfectly sets the scene for goods, vehicles and much more. The many gravel colors make it possible to match the corporate design. Attractive, well-maintained presentation and business premises increase visitor numbers and customer satisfaction.
  • The advantage of such an exhibition for customers is that they can see the products on display directly in combination with a stone carpet. A kitchen exhibition thus directly shows the desired kitchen with the matching flooring system. In a car showroom, you can see how good a garage can look with stone carpeting.

Milling in underfloor heating in new and old buildings

Underfloor heating systems have been extremely popular in new builds and renovations for years. The advantages of underfloor heating milling are obvious: high efficiency, lower heating costs, increased property value.

The combination with a stone carpet results in a particularly efficient system of heating and top floor. As the gravel floor is applied directly to the plastered heating pipes, this results in optimum heat transfer. With a construction height of just 6 millimetres, the heat from the heating system reaches the room particularly quickly.

Non-binding Cost estimate

How much does the floor in a stone carpet exhibition cost?

First and foremost, the area of application determines the pricing. However, the costs depend on many different factors, including

  • the type of binder required
  • from the primer

  • the choice of skirting boards, for example if these are also made of quartz gravel

  • from the labor costs of the professional installer

  • the size of the area to be laid

What different types of stone carpet are there?

In most cases,
colorquartz
or
marble gravel
is used for the production of stone carpets. However, there are considerable differences in quality here, for example in the proportion of dust in the material or in the types of marble used.

What grain sizes are available?

Colored quartz is available in the following grain sizes:

  • 1–2 mm

  • 2–3 mm

  • 3–4 mm

Marble gravel is available in the following grain sizes:

  • 1–4 mm

  • 4–8 mm

  • 8–15 mm

Of course, the choice of gravel grain size has an effect on the laying thickness of the gravel floor.

What material thickness is used to lay gravel coatings?

The laying thickness of the floor depends on the gravel grain size and the area of application. Normal quartz gravel with a grain size of 2 – 3 mm can be laid indoors with a thickness of 6 mm.

An installation thickness of 8 mm is used outdoors and on stairs indoors due to the load.

Finally, 10 mm of material is applied to external stairs.

Vertical surfaces such as risers, skirting boards and walls are always laid in 6 mm.

How does the grain size affect the costs?

The larger the grain size of the gravel, the higher the installation height of the floor covering. This means that more gravel and additional binder is required per m². The price increases accordingly.

Why is a primer required for gravel floors?

The primer forms the bonding bridge between the building structure and the gravel floor. The material can be applied to almost any substrate, for example tiles, wood, stone, concrete and metal. Different substrates require different preparation steps.

On tiles and metal, for example, a primer is required to give the smooth surface stability during installation.

On porous stone and absorbent screed, the appropriate primer must be used to prevent the binder from being absorbed, which is intended to ensure that the pebbles remain in place.

To coat wooden planks with a gravel floor, the movement of the planks against each other must first be stopped. To do this, the installer first applies a mesh mat to the wooden floor. Once the filler has dried, the gravel floor is applied.

Which binders are suitable for indoor installation?
We recommend Qubo® Epoxy Resin (Qubo® EP for short) for indoor areas, for example for a stone carpet exhibition. The products in this range are two-component binders for laying gravel floors in indoor areas in private and commercial environments.
Qubo® EPs offer the necessary durability to provide floors and treads on stairs with a long-lasting gravel coating. The material is transparent and allows the selected gravel colors to shine.
The vertical binder Qubo® PU-WA08 is used for vertical surfaces such as risers and skirting boards.
Why should a stone carpet be provided with a pore sealer?

Especially in kitchens and
bathrooms
, gravel floors should be fitted with a pore seal for reasons of hygiene. It prevents leaked, sticky liquids from penetrating the gravel structure. While liquids that have penetrated an open floor are difficult to remove, the pore seal enables
effortless cleaning
by wet mopping.

Is a stone carpet suitable for pets?

Dogs, cats and co. feel much more comfortable on the textured surface than on smooth floor coverings such as tiles or laminate, as they do not slip on stone carpets. However, it is advisable to cover the floor with a pore seal to ensure an easily wipeable surface.

Can a stone carpet be laid outdoors?
A gravel coating on your
terrace
is the durable alternative to other floor coverings. The system forms a non-slip floor that is 100% frost-proof and UV-resistant
What are the advantages of a stone carpet in outdoor areas?
  • High drainage capacity due to open-pored structure

  • Quick drying in sun and wind

  • Easy to clean and self-cleaning

  • 100% frostsicher

  • UV-stabil

  • Gentle, massage-like walking comfort when walking barefoot
How is the stone carpet laid outdoors?

The most important thing when laying gravel floors in outdoor areas is preparing the substrate. This ensures the durability of the finished floor.

On the one hand, this is because a primed subfloor provides significantly increased adhesion for the filled gravel. On the other hand, a sealing layer keeps rainwater away from the building structure, for example, which supports long-term durability.

Options for sealing building structures are

  • Sealing using a resin seal with a sealing membrane
  • Sealing using a flex sealing slurry

In order to drain rainwater effectively, the floor covering is laid with a gradient of at least 1.5%.

Which binders are suitable for laying gravel floors outdoors?
For outdoor areas, we recommend Qubo® PU08. This binder is a one-component polyurethane (1C PU) for laying stone carpets on balconies, terraces, pool surrounds and outdoor steps.
Laying with polyurethane as a binder gives the gravel floor the high elasticity required for large temperature differences.
Qubo® PU08 is also absolutely UV-resistant and frost-proof.
Should a pore seal be applied to an outdoor stone carpet?

In outdoor areas, the gravel is always laid as an open system to ensure drainage capacity and thus the run-off of rainwater. This makes the flooring system 100% frost-proof and therefore ideal as a
pool surround
and as a covering for balconies, terraces, entrance areas, outdoor steps and loggias.

How do you clean the floor in the stone carpet exhibition?
In the stone carpet exhibition, the gravel floor can simply be vacuumed or damp mopped. Heavier soiling can be removed with a wet vacuum cleaner or a steam cleaner.
The exterior can be cleaned using a high-pressure cleaner with a brush system. Without a brush system, the dirt is pressed between the pebbles. This reduces the drainage capacity and makes it even more difficult to remove the dirt.
Further information on the subject of cleaning can be found in our
section worth knowing
.
Is it possible to repair or mend the floor in a stone carpet showroom?
Defects in stone carpet exhibitions can be seamlessly repaired after structural changes such as moving a wall. However, it must be remembered that changes in color due to environmental influences and the natural aging process cannot be ruled out.
Is a stone carpet waterproof?
The waterproofing of the building structure is the water-bearing layer. To make the interior stone carpet waterproof, we use a pore seal in combination with an epoxy resin sealant. Qubo® EP (glossy) can be used as an epoxy resin sealant.
Another option is a semi-matt or anti-slip polyurethane sealant.

We would like to point out that we do not recommend gravel coatings in the direct shower area. The reasons for this can be found in the basic structure of the floor and the wet room. Just as the tile adhesive underneath a tile does not form a completely flat surface without air pockets, pores also remain underneath the sealed gravel layer.

If, after years, a silicone seam leaks and water from a fitting, for example, penetrates between the wall or floor covering and the seal of the building structure, the transparent pore seal reacts with the water and forms white stains. As these occur underneath the seal, they cannot be wiped away or removed by drying.

This is why insurance companies do not classify stone carpets as suitable for wet rooms and do not replace such coatings in the event of damage. We therefore recommend microcement coatings for showers. With these, there is no water-bearing layer between the floor covering and the substrate, so there is no risk of moisture penetration. Due to the many customization options for microcement, it can also be combined with marble and quartz gravel. Just get in touch with us.

Can a stone carpet be laid on stairs?
With marble and quartz gravel, old
stairs
can be easily renovated both indoors and outdoors. By coating your old stairs with gravel, you get a new design without having to invest in a new staircase. Renovation is carried out without any chiseling or demolition work. Staircase renovation significantly reduces or even completely eliminates noise. Of course, a gravel coating is also ideal for new stairs and entrance areas.

Can stairs be renovated with non-slip stone carpet?

A staircase coated with marble or quartz gravel already has a slip resistance class of R10 after installation.

The slip resistance class can be increased to R11 or R12 using special sealants.

How long does a staircase renovation with stone carpeting take?

Depending on the type of staircase, renovations are possible within 3-5 days.
Please contact us to discuss the details
.

What is a natural stone carpet?

All our gravel floors use natural stones as the base material. This is why many people refer to the result as a
natural stone carpet
.

The gravel is available natural and colored.

How long does a floor in the stone carpet exhibition last?

A professionally laid floor can practically only be destroyed by chemical stress or under the influence of enormous mechanical forces. It can therefore be assumed that a well-maintained floor will last for several decades.

How do I remove the floor in a stone carpet exhibition?

A separating layer can be worked into the floor coating during installation. This additional step during installation makes it very easy to dismantle stone carpet exhibitions.

Can gemstones be incorporated into a stone carpet?

Mica additives and various gemstones can be added, but this represents a further cost factor.
